How SonarTree scores keywords
Three numbers, 0 to 100 each, drive everything in the product: the dashboard, the free audit, and the public API.
Popularity
0–100How often people search for this keyword, from Apple Search Ads' own Search Popularity index for the storefront you're looking at. Refreshed weekly.
Difficulty
0–100How hard this keyword is to rank for right now, weighted by the apps currently occupying its top results.
Opportunity
popularity × (100 − difficulty) / 100Popularity and difficulty combined into one sortable number: high search interest, low competition. This is the number the dashboard's "keywords you should target" list sorts by.
Free vs. paid
Free gets you today's rank snapshot for one connected app: no history, no competitor lookup. Solo, Studio, and Pro add more connected apps, more tracked keywords, rank history, and competitor reverse-lookup. Pro adds the public API. Full breakdown on pricing.
Where the data comes from
Downloads, revenue, subscriptions, and Search Popularity all come straight from Apple's own official APIs once you connect App Store Connect: no legal gray zone, no estimates. Rank position itself comes from polite, rate-limited storefront enrichment, kept intentionally separate so the official-API side keeps working even if that layer is ever unavailable.
