SonarTree vs Sensor Tower

The enterprise market-intelligence platform for mobile, covering download and revenue estimates, ad intelligence, and store performance across the whole market rather than just your own apps. It acquired data.ai, formerly App Annie, in an acquisition announced in March 2024.

How this was checked

SonarTree is our product, so treat this page as what it is. Every Sensor Tower figure below was read from https://sensortower.com/pricing on 2026-08-25. Anything Sensor Tower does not publish is marked “Not publicly listed” rather than guessed, and prices change, so check theirs before deciding.

What Sensor Tower does better

  • The deepest market-wide dataset of any tool on this page, and the one whose estimates the industry most often cites.
  • Ad intelligence and creative libraries sit alongside the app data, which no tool on this page matches.
  • Absorbing data.ai consolidated two of the three largest mobile datasets into one panel.

Where SonarTree fits instead

  • Sensor Tower publishes no price at all. Its own pricing page says pricing is customised per customer, which in practice means a sales call before you learn whether it is affordable.
  • It is built for teams doing market research across a category. SonarTree is built for the developer of one app who wants to know where that app ranks today.
  • SonarTree's entire pricing ladder is published, and its cheapest paid plan is $19.

What the pricing table does not tell you

  • No self-serve path exists. Every route into the product goes through sales.
  • Sensor Tower's own page states pricing varies by access level, markets covered and features, so two customers pay differently for the same product.
  • If you are currently a data.ai customer: no public sunset date for that platform has been published as of this page's last check.

The short answer

If you are sizing a market, briefing investors, or tracking a category you do not ship in, Sensor Tower is in a different weight class and worth the call. If you want to know which of your own keywords moved this week, you should not have to talk to a salesperson first.

SonarTree is pre-launch and does not accept public signups yet. The waitlist is the only way in, and every plan and limit is published before you join it.
